Recipe Corner: Decadent Dark Chocolate Truffles

Indulge in a little luxury with these homemade dark chocolate truffles. Velvety smooth and intensely rich, these bite-sized treats are perfect for satisfying your sweet cravings or impressing your loved ones on special occasions. Made with just a few simple ingredients, these truffles are surprisingly easy to prepare and are sure to be a hit with chocolate lovers of all ages.


Ingredients:

- 200g good-quality dark chocolate (70% cocoa solids), chopped

- 120ml heavy cream

- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, diced

- Cocoa powder, for dusting

- Optional coatings: chopped nuts, shredded coconut, cocoa powder, or powdered sugar


Directions:

1. Place the chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl and set aside.


2. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat immediately.


3. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate and let it sit for 1-2 minutes to soften the chocolate.


4. Gently stir the chocolate and cream together until smooth and well combined. If necessary, you can return the bowl to the saucepan and gently heat it over low heat to help melt any remaining chocolate.


5. Once the mixture is smooth and glossy, add the diced butter and stir until melted and fully incorporated.


6. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the chocolate mixture for at least 2 hours, or until firm.


7. Once chilled, use a small spoon or melon baller to scoop out portions of the chocolate mixture and roll them into balls between your palms. If desired, you can roll the truffles in cocoa powder, chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or powdered sugar to coat.


8. Place the coated truffles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and return them to the refrigerator to set for another 30 minutes.


9. Once set, transfer the truffles to an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Enjoy these decadent treats on their own or as part of a dessert platter.
